The Curious Case of Phenylephrine
Lucas Berenbrok, associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, is a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist. Dr. Berenbrokā€™s research focuses on the expanding roles pharmacists play in keeping communities healthy. His scholarly work includes patient access to community pharmacies, over-the-counter hearing aids, pharmacogenomics, and diabetes education.

Emily Midkiff – University of North Dakota
Kids and Sci-Fi Books
Emily Midkiff is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota, where she teaches courses on childrenā€™s and adolescent literature and literacy. Before getting her PhD, she spent 9 years working in childrenā€™s theater, and now does research on science fiction and fantasy for children with attention to what children have to say for themselves. She is the author ofĀ Equipping Space Cadets: Primary Science Fiction for Young Children, an award-winning interdisciplinary case study of science fiction for children.

Emmanuel Urquieta – Baylor University
What Happens If Someone Dies in Space?
Dr. Emmanuel Urquieta currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at the NASA fundedĀ Translational Research Institute for Space Health, where he manages research projects in areas ranging from radiation protection to psychological changes during deep spaceflight. Dr. Urquieta has a dual faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Center for Space Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He holds a medical degree from Anahuac University in Mexico City and a Master of Science in aerospace medicine from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is also a FAA private pilot and scuba diver.

Ashli Stokes – University of North Carolina Charlotte
Thanksgiving Food and Gratitude
Dr. Ashli Quesinberry Stokes is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and the Director of the Center for the Study of the New South at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Stokes teaches a variety of public relations courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and directs the Departmentā€™s Honors Program. Her courses include principles of public relations, public relations strategy & campaigns, issues management, and health communication campaigns. Her award-winning research specializes in using rhetorical approaches to analyze public relations and public communication controversies, often concerning activism and corporate advocacy. Along with co-authoring Consuming Identity: The Role of Food in Redefining the South (with Wendy Atkins-Sayre) and Global Public Relations: Spanning Borders, Spanning Cultures(with Alan R. Freitag) Stokes has published in the Journal of Public Relations Research, Journal of Communication Management, Public Relations Review, the Southern Communication Journal, Studies in Communication Sciences, and theEncyclopedia of Public Relations, among others. Upon the completion of her masterā€™s degree at Wake Forest University, she worked in public relations. Stokes then returned to academia and completed her doctorate at the University of Georgia in 2004.

Jose Holguin-Veras – RensseelaerĀ Polytechnic Institute
Reducing E-Commerce Emissions
Dr. JosĆ© HolguĆ­n-Veras is the William H. Hart Professor, and Director of the Center for Infrastructure, Transportation, and the Environment; and the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF) Center of Excellence on Sustainable Urban Freight Systems at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from the Universidad AutĆ³noma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 1981; his M.Sc. from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1984; and his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1996. He has been a faculty at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, City College of New York (1997-2002), and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2002-present). His work has received numerous awards, including the 2013 White House Champion of Change Award for his contributions to freight transportation and disaster response.
