Daniel Newton is an assistant professor of management and entrepreneurship in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of speaking up at work and how employees stay engaged as they transition between work tasks. International Space Station, isolated crews in Houston, and cosmonauts in the Mars training facility in Moscow.

Larry M. Silverberg – North Carolina State University
Why Does the Field Concept in Modern Mechanics Make Sense?
Larry M. Silverberg, born November 5, 1957, is a dynamicist. He writes for The Conversation about basic concepts relating to physical reality that are almost against common sense.

Silverberg attended Virginia Polytechnic and State University (1976-1983). He studied under the dynamicist Leonard Meirovitch from 1977 until receiving the PhD in engineering mechanics in 1983. Silverberg joined the faculty at North Carolina State University in 1984. Over his career, Silverberg is credited with developing applied and theoretical methods that advanced the foundation of ordinary and spacetime dynamics.

Cynthia Standley – University of Arizona
Interpreting Research Through an Artist’s Eyes
Cynthia A. Standley, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Bioethics and Medical Humanism at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. She received her PhD in Physiology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and has more than 25 years’ experience teaching physiology to medical and health professional students. She founded the Art in Medicine program at the UA College of Medicine-Phoenix and has partnered with the Phoenix Art Museum to provide arts education to medical students with the goal of improving patient care as well as medical student wellness. The program was a recipient of the Governor’s Art Award in 2021 and named a “Best of the Valley” for the merging of arts and sciences by Phoenix Magazine.  She currently chairs the Phoenix Bioscience Core Arts Committee, a 12-member committee representing all three state institutions in Arizona. In 2021, she led the committee to start the Artist + Researcher program, the committee’s largest initiative, pairing local Phoenix artists with researchers and scientists to develop translational pieces of art that communicate groundbreaking life science research in new and innovative ways to the public.

Jane Gifkins – Griffith University
Switching Off From Work
Jane Gifkins is a research fellow with the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing with the Griffith Business School at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Jane completed her Ph.D  investigating fatigue and recovery in shiftworking emergency department nurses in 2022; with her primary research focus being worker health and wellbeing, work intensification, and working time arrangement. Jane has a scientific background having predominantly worked as a medical laboratory scientist and considers herself a scientist in a social science discipline. Jane is currently working as a research fellow investigating healthcare professionals’ health and wellbeing.  She has presented her work at local and international conferences and published original research papers on topics of the impacts of high job demands and shiftwork on sleep, diet, and lifestyle choices, fatigue and recovery.
