Follies in America
Kerry Dean Carso is professor of art history at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she teaches courses on American art and architecture.  She is the author of American Gothic Art and Architecture in the Age of Romantic Literature (University of Wales Press, 2014), winner of the Henry-Russell Hitchcock Award from the Victorian Society in America, and Follies in America: A History of Garden and Park Architecture (Cornell University Press, 2021).

The Debate on Exercise for Weight Loss
Donald M. Lamkin, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and a Research Scientist at the Cousins Center for PNI in the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior. His research focuses on biobehavioral mechanisms in stress physiology, physical exercise, and cancer control.

Brandon del Pozo – Brown University
Gun Violence at Home and War
Brandon del Pozo an assistant professor at Brown University, conducts NIH-funded research at the intersection of public health, public safety, and justice. Prior to research, Dr. del Pozo served as a police officer for 23 years: 19 in the New York City Police Department, where he started on patrol in East Flatbush, Brooklyn and four as the Chief of Police of Burlington, Vermont, where he directed the city’s interdisciplinary response to the opioid crisis. His writing has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Vital City, and the New York Daily News. Dr. del Pozo’s book, The Police and the State, was published in December of 2022 by Cambridge University Press.

Christine A. Mair – University of Maryland Baltimore County
Caring for Kinless Older Adults
Christine A. Mair is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Gerontology and Director of the Center for Health, Equity, & Aging (CHEA) in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Public Health at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) located in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health in the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Her research examines the presence or absence of family and non-family ties and seeks to document how social integration and support (or lack thereof; e.g., “kinlessness”) shape mental health, physical health, end-of-life experiences, and other aspects of well-being especially cross-nationally.

Roger Kreuz – University of Memphis
Language and Identity
Roger Kreuz is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Memphis, where he also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his doctorate at Princeton University and was employed as a post-doctoral fellow at Duke University before taking his current position. Dr. Kreuz studies various aspects of language and communication and has written several books on these topics for a general audience.
