Jo Mackiewicz – Iowa State University
Learning Skilled Trades in the Workplace
Jo Mackiewicz is a professor of rhetoric and professional communication at Iowa State University. She studies the communication of pedagogical and workplace interactions. She’s written several books and numerous articles, published in Technical Communication Quarterly, Technical Communication, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, The Writing Center Journal, Composition Studies, and Written Communication. Her book, Welding Technical Communication: Teaching and Learning Embodied Knowledge , was published by SUNY Press in May 2022. Her latest book, Learning Skilled Trades in the Workplace, is based on her work as a welder/fabricator at Howe’s Welding and Metal Fabrication in Ames, Iowa. It will be published open access by Springer in 2025.

Grace Moore is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Otago. Her research spans Victorian studies, Australian studies, and the Environmental Humanities. Grace is the author of a number of books and, in 2022, she edited Fire Stories. She is also the Editor of the online Literary Encyclopedia.

Melinda Boyd – Cedar Crest College
Food Nostalgia
Melinda Boyd is an assistant professor of nutrition and public health at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Her higher-education teaching experience includes teaching courses in clinical nutrition, public health, community nutrition, public policy, culture & ethics, sports nutrition, vitamins and minerals, and evidence analysis research courses. Professor Boyd is currently teaching graduate-level courses in medical nutrition therapy, sports nutrition, nutrition and non-communicable diseases, and other public-health courses.
She earned undergraduate degrees in both biology and nutrition science, Master’s degrees in Public Health and in Human Relations, and she earned a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition (DCN) from Rutgers University in 2018.
