The Complex Role of Roadside Memorials
Arthur “Art” Jipson is an associate professor of sociology and criminology at the University of Dayton, where he has taught since 2001. From 2005 to 2016, Jipson was director of UD’s criminal justice studies program. His work has been published in The Conversation, the Journal of Criminal Justice Education, the Journal of the Institute of Justice & International StudiesResearch in Political SociologyThe American SociologistThe Justice ProfessionalAmerican Journal of Criminal JusticeThe International Review of LawComputers and Technology, and Popular Music and Society. He edited a special issue of Sociological Focus with UD colleague Paul Becker on research on white racial extremism, online extremism, white nationalism and hate crime. His primary research has focused on extremism, radicalization, nationalism, social deviance, Internet culture, and efforts to prevent radicalization through pathways that create a healthy inclusive community. His secondary research has explored roadside memorials and legal regulation of memorials and the popular music industry, popular culture and youth in American society.

I am an Assistant Professor of Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Dayton. I am the graduate research coordinator for the Master’s program and teach courses in Nutritional Biochemistry, Advanced Clinical Nutrition, and Research. I am a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician and my research interests include the treatment of malnutrition, nutrition support, and the role of clinical dietitians in acute care settings.

Homeschooling Movement Grows Among Black Families
Dr. Aaliyah Baker is a community-engaged scholar and faculty member in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Dayton, School of Education and Health Sciences.  Her research engages critical and postmodern social theories and methodologies that focus on the experiences of Black homeschooling families and the role of race in educational achievement and experiences in schools and social settings.

Sue Trollinger – University of Dayton
Weaponizing Amish Culture
Dr. Susan Trollinger is professor of English at the University of Dayton. She teaches in the interdisciplinary Core program at UD as well as courses in the visual and material rhetorics of Protestant fundamentalism/evangelicalism and the Amish. Her book, Selling the Amish: The Tourism of Nostalgia (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2012) offers an analysis of the visual rhetoric of tourism in Amish Country in Ohio. She also co-wrote Righting America at the Creation Museum (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016), with William Vance Trollinger, Jr. The book provides a close reading of the visual rhetoric, scientific and biblical argumentation, politics, and historical significance of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky. She has also written for The Conversation.

Leveraging Social Media to Enhance Public Health Response
Hamed Zolbanin is an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Business Analytics at the University of Dayton. Before earning his Ph.D. in Management Science and Information Systems from Oklahoma State University, he gained several years of professional experience as an IT engineer. His research has been published in reputable journals, including the Journal of Strategic Information SystemsDecision Support SystemsInformation & ManagementInformation Systems Frontiers, and the Journal of Business Research. He has also contributed to the academic community by serving as an editorial board member for the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and as an associate editor for the Journal of Business Analytics.
